LINE Bank Wire Transfer Fee $150 TWD: Funding Charles Schwab
LINE Bank flat-rate international wire fee: TWD 150 / transfer, promotion valid through 2025/12/31
Previously used Taishin Bank wires: USD 15 + USD 18 = USD 33 per transfer (roughly TWD 1,400)
Note (2025/05/07) The steps below are for a basic (non-upgraded) LINE Bank account, which has a TWD 10,000 per-transfer limit. 2025/08/08: Account upgrade completed — higher limits now available.
Step 1: Get Your Schwab Wire Instructions
1. Log in to Schwab
Use the desktop browser for easier navigation (mobile works too, but not the trading app).
2. Retrieve Wire Transfer Details
- Go to Transfers & Payments → Wire Transfer / Account Funding Numbers
- Select the account you want to fund → International Wire Instructions

You'll see your wire transfer instructions:

| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Bank Name | Citibank NA, New York |
| Bank Address | 399 Park Ave, New York, NY 10022, USA |
| SWIFT Code | CITIUS33 |
| Account Number | 40607595 |
| Account Name | Charles Schwab Co. Inc. |
| Final Beneficiary | Your name, 8-digit account number |
Final Beneficiary = Wire Memo / Payment Reference, format:
FIRST LAST,XXXX-XXXX
- Name must match exactly what's on your Schwab account, or the transfer will be rejected
- Separate name and account number with a
,(comma)- Format the 8-digit account number with a
-in the middle, e.g.1234-5678
Not sure of the exact name on your Schwab account? Click your profile icon (top right) → Account Profile → Contact Information.

Whether or not your name has a hyphen doesn't matter much, but matching the account profile exactly is the safest approach.
Step 2: Send the Wire via LINE Bank
1. Find "International Remittance"
If you use Firstrade or Interactive Brokers, the steps are essentially the same — see this guide: LINE Bank Wire Transfer to Firstrade / IB — Mr.Market

- After logging in, tap More (bottom right)
- Under Foreign Exchange, select International Remittance
- Basic accounts: per-transfer limit is TWD 10,000 — enter TWD 10,150 (includes the TWD 150 fee)
- For your English address, use the Taiwan Post address translator if needed — LINE Bank saves it after the first entry

2. Fill In Beneficiary Details

| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Beneficiary Name | Charles Schwab Co. Inc. (not the memo — don't confuse them!) |
| Bank Name | Search CITIUS33 — auto-fills to Citibank NA, New York |
| SWIFT Code | CITIUS33 |
| Account Number | 40607595 |
| Beneficiary Type | Individual/Private |
| Country | United States |
| City/District | New York, NY 10022 |
| Street Address | 399 Park Ave |
3. Select Transfer Purpose and Fill in the Memo

On the confirmation screen, don't skip the wire memo field — the UI is surprisingly easy to miss. Enter your Final Beneficiary exactly as follows:
INGRID KAO,1234-5678
First and last name + comma + 8-digit account number with a hyphen
Tap Next, complete the verification code, and the wire is sent.
4. Confirm the Result

- "Receiving bank" refers to Citibank NY — Schwab hasn't credited your account yet at this stage
- 2025/05/08: Schwab showed $324.6 USD credited — same-day settlement, and the fee savings are significant
- 2025/05/22 22:20: Sent the transfer, saw Schwab credited it just 6 minutes later
Previous experience with Taishin Bank wire: Initiated: 2025/04/22 09:53 → Schwab received: 2025/04/23 (same day) Fee: USD 38, approximately TWD 1,150
This was a test run. I've since applied for the LINE Bank account upgrade, which removes the TWD 10,000 per-transfer cap.
